| Imagination In Motion |
•Teaches Students How to Work Together •Builds Teamwork •Fun & Dynamic Welcome to “Imagination in Motion”, the brainchild of Paul Rajeckas & Neil Intraub, physical theater practitioners who have presented thousands of children’s performances over the past thirty years! Rajeckas & Intraub are a modern day Laurel & Hardy. Their sense of play and resilient on-stage friendship created Imagination in Motion! The program is an athletic physical theater performance that plays like a live cartoon – drawing on various theatrical styles, including mime, modern dance and vaudeville – but turns these traditions upside down by combining them with dialogue, audience participation and a delightfully original soundtrack. Highlights include the creation of a mechanical man who runs amok while the audience cheers, a boy’s struggle to escape from within a video game, and a giant vacuum cleaner that sucks both performers offstage. Classroom workshops and Residency Available Grades K-6 & 6-12 | | Island Breeze - Caribbean Festival | Experience a carnival atmosphere as Island Breeze brings a Caribbean celebration to you! Enjoy the sounds of steel drums, percussion, bass, and vocals. Feel the rhythmic pulse of calypso, the infectious beat of reggae, and the foot-stomping drive of merengue, mambo, and plena. Hear how beautiful other styles of music - from Rock to Bach - sound on the steel drums. The audience will be amazed when Island Breeze demonstrates how a traditional American song can be changed into Caribbean style. Students will participate in singing, dancing, and clapping. Selected volunteers will be invited to play percussion instruments, dance the limbo, and try their hand at the steel drums. Grades K-12 Great Family & Community Program Too | | Magical World Folktales | | Alicia Washington’s Magical World Folktales is a dramatic, fast-paced play with music and dance that dramatizes what a thrill reading can be. The audience will be spellbound and mesmerized as the characters experience the wondrous world of reading. The audience becomes involved in the action of the play as they encourge “The Readers” to “move along” with the story. Students experience the dynamic world of the “mind’s eye” while learning about different cultures, the universality of morals, and problem-solving methods. Grades K-6 |
