Who can resist the magic of puppetry?
The Spring Valley Puppet Theater combines delightful original scripts, appealing characters, beautifully handcrafted puppets, lighting, music and humor, all within the art of puppetry.
These highly entertaining productions are drawn from fairy tales, folktales and fables, and feature hand and rod puppets. Artist Michael Graham designs and builds his incredible puppets and sets. He also writes the scripts, choreographs the action, creates the voice and music tapes and skillfully performs the production himself.
In addition to an entertaining performance, the audience is given a behind-the-scenes look at the technique and artistry used in Puppet Theater, and a demonstration of favorite characters. Students also participate in a question & answer period in this wonderful educational experience.
Michael Graham’s “Jack and the Beanstalk” was awarded the “Citation of Excellence in the Art of Puppetry” by UNIMA-USA, The American Center of the Union Internationale de la Marionette.

Why do we see different stars at different times of the year?
Why might the same star be seen only briefly after sunset or before sunrise at certain times of the year, but all through the night at another time? How big are the stars compared to the Earth and our sun?
Gary Muzio will answer all of these questions when students enter his portable planetarium and explore the night sky as it will appear over their school that very night.
Students will locate the brightest stars and constellations and learn their names, and see a full year of evening sky glide by in a musical interlude.
They will also be introduced to Native American tales, Greek legends and other mythologies associated with the stars. Material is delivered in age-appropriate depth and detail and meets most core curriculum content standards for Earth Science/Astronomy.

Watch balloons, beach balls, and bubbles fly through the air. Hear music come from wood, metal, and glass. Lisa Lou not only demonstrates and explains centripetal and centrifugal force; balance; air pressure; vacuums; Bernoulli’s effect; sound waves; and a touch of magic, she also teaches students to do much of it themselves! Students participate and assist with various demonstrations as Lisa demystifies science through theater. Also available in American Sign Language.
