The Secrets of Magic are scientifically revealed!
Most magic tricks and illusions have scientific explanations and Lisa Lou knows what they are! Using Mirrors, magnets, air, optical illusions and mental confusions, she will delight and educate the audience, demonstrating the principals of light, sight, reflection, magnetism, memory, air pressure and logic. Lisa won’t give away all the magical secrets – but she will show the audience tricks that they can learn to do themselves – such as make a ball roll around on its own, create their own optical illusion and make their head disappear! | Chris Marksbury; CM Photos | The Science Of Sound | Musical instrument inventor Jody Kruskal uses homemade instruments as physical models for explaining the science of sound. Concepts of vibration, frequency, relative pitch, instrument classification, and rhythm are explained in simple language employing instrumental and vocal examples. The audience is engaged and participates throughout the program, as they learn that wonderful music can come from found objects, such as paper towel tubes, soda straws and coffee cans. A wonderful example of the recycle/reduce/reuse concepts, as Jody encourages students to make their own instruments in the classroom and at home. Grades K-12 | | The Speech Doctor Is In! | Public Speaking Should Not Be Intimidating! A comedic entrance sets the mood for this fast-paced assembly as The Speech Doctor, Kathleen Williams, PhD, immediately grabs the audience’s attention. With the help of student volunteers, she diagnoses various “Speech Sicknesses” such as mumbling, poor eye contact, lack of expression and low volume. Oversized props containing effective cures add humor to the show, while providing valuable instruction - as each “patient” rapidly improves. This highly interactive, laugh-out-loud funny program provides strategies that will enable children to speak with confidence, clarity and expression. The Speech Doctor’s warm, friendly style and positive ideas help students combat stage fright and overcome speech anxiety, preventing a life-long fear of public speaking.
