Celebrate America!

"Celebrate America" is an entertainingly patriotic program about the folktales, legends and folksongs that have contributed to the cultural fabric of this great country we love!  Through the use of storytelling, theater and music, Lou Del Bianco will bring to life some of American folklore's most colorful legends:

Paul Bunyan: America's favorite lumberjack will tell his best "Tall Tales" and at the same time expose children to the geography of the U.S.

Davy Crockett: Better known as the "King of the wild Frontier", Davy will tell how he befriends a raccoon and hugs a bear into strawberry preserves!

Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind: Davy Crockett tells about Sally, the gal he is head over heels in love with! Sally could tote a steamboat on her back, outscream a panther, and wear a hornet's nest for her Sunday bonnet!

Glooscabi and the Game Animals: This light hearted Native American legend is about an arrogant warrior and his Grandmother Woodchuck who teaches Glooscabi that "The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth."

Also woven throughout the assembly are some this countries most beloved folksongs: This Land is Your Land; I've Been Workin on the Railroad; Oh, Susannah! Wake, Snake; and Skip to my Lou.

Chinese Acrobatics Featuring Li Liu

With such skills as Chinese water bowl manipulation and ribbon dancing, Li Liu brings the art of Chinese Acrobatics, one of the oldest performing arts dating between 475-221BC, to your school in this assembly.

This performance includes many of the traditional Chinese Acrobatics - hand balancing, plate spinning, trick cycling and foot-juggling. Students will also get a glimpse of the colorful Chinese culture and learn words in Li Liu’s native language.

This assembly is interactive, with some students being selected to attempt a few of the easier acrobatic skills.

Students will enjoy the entertainment and stories of Li Liu’s experiences and the historical significance of traditional lion and dragon dances, as she encourages them to think about what it might have been like to grow up in a different place and time.

Choose Success!

Success is the consequence of making positive choices!

This is the message delivered in this motivational program, founded by former Harlem Globetrotter Derek Murphy.

He and a group of personalities, including Athletes, Actors, and Entertainers speak frankly to students about effective ways to achieve their goals and how to avoid pitfalls along the way.

Subjects addressed include education, preparing for testing, building character, setting standards, and the devastating effects of substance abuse.

Programs are customized to meet the school’s objectives. For instance:

Elementary School programs may focus on study habits, anti-bullying and leadership.

Middle School programs may focus on preparing for High School, setting goals, and tobacco, alcohol and drug abuse.

High School programs may focus on college/workforce realities, long-term goals, and the damaging effects of addictions on individuals and their families.

This program is available as a large-scale assembly or visits to individual classes, and can encompass a single school or an entire district.
